GSX-R1000 press Launch

Following their arrival in Miami on an un-characteristically wet Monday evening, the UK motorcycle media finally got the chance to put the new 2012 GSX-R1000 through its paces today, at the fast and thankfully dry, Homestead Miami Raceway.

Following two days of showery weather for US testers, the weather proved almost perfect for UK and Canadian press with humid but dry conditions offering near-ideal test conditions.

With an open pit lane format, press were allocated a new GSX-R1000 each and given the entire day to explore the new bike.

With the kind support of Suzuki USA and Bridgestone Tyres , UK press lapped all day long, with Fast Bikes tester Simon Roots completing nearly 100 laps of the track that will host the AMA Superbike series later this year.

Testers gave their feedback on the new bike after the launch, and without exception were impressed by the technical changes to the new bike, that see improved mid-range performance, improved braking power and reduced weight.
